Isaiah 53:1

“Who has believed our report? And to whom has the arm of the Lord been revealed?”

Isaiah chapter 53 is a prophetic word regarding the coming of Jesus, the Messiah the Jews longed for to deliver them. If you know anything about the Bible, then you know that Jesus was rejected by the majority of the Jews. The most wonderful news is that when Jesus came, He grafted all of us into the promise of the Messiah and His Word and His family. In the Body of Christ there is no longer Jew or Gentile! Thank you, Jesus! He came for the whole world! That’s the good news, the Gospel!

Isaiah prophesied in amazing detail what the Messiah was coming for. Why did Jesus have to come and die? We know it was for our sins. We 100% believe that every time, right? But what about all the other “benefits” of His life, death and resurrection? Isaiah CLEARLY states that not only did He bear our iniquities (sins), but also our grief and our sorrows. He was chastised for our peace. He bore the stripes upon His back for the healing of our bodies. Why do we have a hard time believing this?

Both John and Paul write about Isaiah’s prophecy in the New Testamen . When Jesus was on earth, performing miracles, setting people free, etc., some still did not believe He was the Messiah. That’s unbelievable to me!

But then, Holy Spirit nudges my heart and says, “Why do you sometimes not believe?” Because if we believe Jesus came to save us from our sin, then we must believe the rest, too. There’s no half truths in the Word of God, only THE Truth. And that Truth is Jesus Christ and everything He is and everything He’s done and everything He is doing now.

Friend, He came for us to have life and life more abundantly! He came to save us (sozo-save, heal, deliver, make whole). Now don’t twist my words…we don’t come to Jesus just so that we have a wonderful, prosperous life. We are assured in the Word that we will have trials and face hardships, even as Christ-followers. But the most beautiful thing is that when we come to Jesus in our wretched, lost, selfish state, He not only saves our souls from hell, but He frees us and delivers us and blesses our lives through our obedience to His Word. He is a good Father who loves to lavish good things on His obedient children.

So, like Isaiah, I ask today, “Whose report will you believe?” What do you need to believe Jesus for? The price has already been paid. Lay it all down at the foot of the cross because that is where it belongs.

Thank you, Jesus, for your life, your death and your resurrection. Forgive me for not understanding and not accepting and receiving everything you suffered for and died for. Lord, help my unbelief and guide me into the fullness of life you have for me.
