Today’s blog is one of encouragement. If you are going through a time in your life right now where nothing right or good seems to be happening, I want to encourage you. Perhaps you have received clear direction for your life and it seemed like everything was lining up just right and then…nothing. Are you gifted in certain areas and not being used in the capacity you feel you should be? Do you feel like you have SO much to give and no one or nothing to give it to? Are things just not panning out the way you had planned or expected?
There have been times in my life when I have felt like I was being overlooked, ignored, told no/wait, or just nothing at all. These have been times when I have grown immensely in different areas, discovered new talents about myself and developed massive amounts of character. It’s what I like to call, “The Waiting.” The Waiting is oftentimes a dry, frustrating and boring time. BUT, you can make it so much more. How? By using this time to open your mind and heart to new things that God might have for you…while you wait. New talents, abilities, experiences, ministries, etc. that you would never have discovered if you had been busy doing what you think you should be doing. The Waiting is a time of developing patience and trust in the Lord. If you have surrendered your life to Him, you can rest assured that He’s got everything under control. You can trust Him. Remember: His plans for you are WAY better than your plans for yourself, His thoughts are much grander for you than you can ever imagine! James 1:4 says, “But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing.”
Keep a good attitude, be patient, stay in the Word, pray daily, improve your skills/craft, and don’t be afraid to try new things. In one season of waiting, I discovered that I love baking custom cakes and have been able to bless others with this “out-of-the-blue” gift. Also, in another time of waiting, God placed new desires in my heart. Instead of focusing on what I am NOT doing during these times, God redirects my thoughts and energy to fresh endeavors, new things that help me grow.
And lastly, know this: “The Waiting” is not forever! It is a season that we all go through and it does come to an end. Ecc. 3:1 says, To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven:” Trust me, it does come to an end. Read Isaiah 43…He’s ready to do a new thing in your life! I now embrace the times of waiting…to rest and be renewed…to draw closer to God and grow more in Him. Just wait to see what He has in store for YOU! It will be worth the wait…
