“Do not be terrified; do not be afraid of them. The Lord your God, who is going before you, will fight for you…” — Deuteronomy 1:29–30
In Book of Deuteronomy chapters 1–3, Moses pauses with a new generation of Israelites and retells their story. He reminds them of God’s mighty deliverance, His guidance through the wilderness, and His promises ahead. But he also recounts a painful truth: their parents allowed fear to keep them from entering the Promised Land.
Moses looks back so they can move forward.
The lesson is simple and powerful—fear often grows where memory fades. When we forget how God has carried us, provided for us, and fought for us, the challenges in front of us seem bigger than the God who stands with us. The “giants” feel overwhelming. The future feels uncertain.
But God has not changed. The same Lord who went before Israel goes before you today. He is not asking you to defeat every obstacle in your own strength. He is asking you to trust Him enough to obey.
So today, I challenge you to do 3 things: Remember, Trust, and Obey.
Remember.
Take a few minutes to recall three specific ways God has been faithful to you. Let gratitude replace anxiety.
Trust.
What “giant” are you facing right now—an uncertainty, a responsibility, a difficult conversation? Surrender that fear to God in prayer.
Obey.
What is the next right step God is prompting you to take? Choose obedience, even if you still feel afraid. Courage is not the absence of fear—it is trusting God in the middle of it. Do it afraid!
Lord, thank You for Your unwavering faithfulness. When I am tempted to fear the future, remind me of all You have already done. Help me to trust You more than my circumstances and give me courage to walk in obedience today. Amen!
