“And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen.” Matthew 28:18-20
“But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.” Acts 1:8
“And these signs will follow those who believe: In My name they will cast out demons;they will speak with new tongues;they will take up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.” Mark 16:17-18
The mission of every believer in Jesus Christ is to show the world who Jesus is and to extend to all His offer of salvation and communion with our Father.
Jesus has commissioned all believers to go to all the earth – including their neighbors next door – to reach the lost with the gospel message of redemption and reconciliation.
We must make the Savior known:
Through the spoken word (Romans 10:14,15)
Through good works (James 2:14-17)
Through the example of a new character (Matthew 5:16-20)
The foremost manifestation of the Holy Spirit in a believers life is that she will be a witness of the Lord’s life and commandments. (Acts 1:8) She has to be ready at all times to speak His name, tell of His marvelous works, give a defense of the reason for our Hope, and tell others about His sacrifice in the abundant life He provides now and for all eternity. (I Peter 3:15)
When unbelievers see those in the church generously giving their time, resources, and love to carry out the Great Commission, they are compelled to glorify the Father. (Matthew 5:16)
When unbelievers see those in the church laying their hands on the sick and them recovering, casting out demons, and walking in the supernatural, they can’t help but believe in the power and name of Jesus Christ. (Mark 16:17-18)
The Word of God challenges us and commissions us to be witnesses of the gospel of Jesus Christ. Now, more than ever, this world needs Jesus. This world needs healing- body, soul and spirit. We have the answer. We are the solution because Jesus is the solution and He lives in us. I encourage you to seek the Lord and ask Him what He would have you do in these last days. Be filled with the Holy Spirit and power and be His witness! It’s not a suggestion, it’s not optional, it is our purpose on this earth. Be the light, shine the light, be Jesus to the world around you.
