Psalm 139:14
“I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Marvelous are Your works, and that my soul knows very well.”
I was watching the news with Lew and I noticed something I had never noticed before. The female news anchors, no matter their age, looked absolutely perfect…no wrinkles, every hair in place, thin, lots of makeup, basically looking as much like Barbie as possible. But the men…gosh…some of them didn’t even look like they have lips and their faces were so wrinkly and saggy. Human beings age and that’s normal and good! But, it is obvious to me that the news station did not place a high priority on the men looking like Ken dolls! What a double standard! What a striking example of what it going on in our society today!
The identity of women is under attack. On one hand, society tells us that we must look a certain way to be accepted as a woman. The pressure to be a certain size, shape, height, no wrinkles, have big lips, huge eyelashes, etc. is a tale most of us have heard our whole lives.
On the other hand, what makes us women is under attack by men who want to be women. If a man puts on a dress, makeup and high heels,he is not a woman. If a man has “gender reassignment” surgery, that does not make him a woman. A male can never be a female! What a crazy world we live in!
But listen to me right now! You are fearfully and wonderfully made by your Creator. You were carefully crafted by the Creator of the universe! God created Eve just as miraculously and as complex (it could be argued even more complex) as Adam. We are not less than, second-best, or simply objects for visual satisfaction. We are daughters of the Most High, made in His image by His hands!
Do you struggle with your identity? Has your outward appearance become an idol in your life? Stop looking around and comparing yourself to other women. We are unique. Don’t allow the pressures of this society that we live in to cause insecurity and dissatisfaction in your life. Of course, we need to take care of our temples that God has entrusted us with, but that includes your spirit, soul AND body. Be free today from this oppression in your life! Be free to be who God made you to be!!!
Thank you God for making me a woman, full of wonder and complexity. Thank you for a healthy and whole body. Your Word says that what You create is good. Help me to see myself like You see me.
