Philippians 3:20-21
“For our citizenship is in heaven, from which we also eagerly wait for the Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, who will transform our lowly body that it may be conformed to His glorious body, according to the working by which He is able even to subdue all things to Himself.”
It’s easy to become overwhelmed by the state of affairs in the world these days. Wars, poverty, hunger, sickness, violence, terror and crime are constantly set before our eyes and ears. We are inundated by this depressing news on our TVs and smartphones. Instead, let’s fix our eyes on things above. Let’s fix our eyes on Jesus! The Bible says the earth is His footstool. This means the enemy is vanquished, humiliated, and completely at the mercy of the victorious king!
Soon and very soon our Lord will call us and our bodies will be transformed in a moment’s time. No more pain, sickness, anxiety or mental anguish! We will join our beloved King and become who He truly made us to be!
There was an old song we used to sing in the Pentecostal church I grew up in that went like this…”This is world is not my home, I’m just a passing through. My treasures are laid up somewhere beyond the blue. The angels beckon me from Heaven’s open door. And I can’t feel at home in this world anymore.”
This world, indeed, is not our home. As I tell my children, we weren’t made for this fallen world, we were made for more! We belong to the kingdom of Heaven! So look up! Eyes on Jesus!!!
