Matthew 6:14-15
“For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.” -Jesus Christ
Jesus says we MUST forgive those who have hurt us, betrayed us and abused us. Not for their benefit, but for ours.
Unforgiveness is a prison. Forgiveness is the key that sets us free.
To forgive does not mean that you are okay with what’s been done or that you excuse bad behavior or actions. Forgiving removes from you the responsibility of making them pay for what they’ve done. You don’t even have to get a “sorry” or tell them that you forgive them.
Forgiveness is a decision, a heart posture between you and the Lord. Forgiveness is sometimes a daily dying to yourself, over and over. Forgiveness is releasing the person and their unjust deeds to a just and loving God.
Christ is our foundation for salvation, freedom, victory, healing and deliverance.
Unforgiveness is the foundation for bondage, oppression, depression, bitterness and hatred.
Which will you choose today? Freedom in Jesus or a prisoner to unforgiveness?
Choose freedom! Choose forgiveness!
