Have you ever noticed in the scriptures surrounding the announcement and birth of Jesus that when the angel(s) of the Lord appeared, the first thing they said was, “Do not fear,” or “Do not be afraid?” Human beings are naturally afraid of the supernatural! When the angel of the Lord or the host of angels became visible to Mary, Zechariah, the shepherds, etc, it is because God allowed their spiritual eyes to be opened for the purpose of communicating His will. And of course, it was a frightening experience for them!

The realm of the supernatural scared people 2,000 years ago and it’s still scaring people today. But why? The spiritual realm, where the battles for our eternal lives happens, is the actual reality of what is going on in this world. The Bible tells us this life is but a vapor and we should focus on things that are eternal. It tells us that the weapons of our warfare are not natural, but supernatural for the pulling down of spiritual strongholds. It tells us that God is a spirit and we must worship Him in spirit and in truth. It tells us how even Jesus did nothing without first hearing from His Father in heaven. It tells us of the upper room in the book of Acts where the Holy Spirit came in like a rushing, mighty wind and filled the disciples of Jesus. Jesus sent His Spirit to His followers so that we can operate in the spiritual realm to be the hands and feet of Jesus. The Bible tells us how Jesus healed the sick, raised the dead, cast out demons, set people free, loved people and sacrificed Himself for all mankind. This is all supernatural stuff, folks!

If you are a believer who thinks the supernatural is scary or not relevant to this time, you are greatly mistaken. Don’t be afraid of what you can’t see. You believed in Jesus and gave your life to Him without seeing Him, right? That’s supernatural! The gifts of the Spirit, healing, deliverance, prayer and fasting are all tools we have been given to fight in the realms of the spirit. Don’t be afraid to use all you have been given in the Spirit! Mighty battles are won for the Kingdom of heaven by tapping into the spiritual realm.

Father, we thank You for the ability to fight in the spiritual realm through the gifts of the Spirit, through prayer and fasting and through the working of miracles, even today. We thank you that these signs and wonders through Your Spirit and power did not stop 2,000 years ago, but are still available for believers today. Help us to not be afraid to obey your voice when You reveal to us Your supernatural plans and directions for our lives and the lives of everyone around us. Help us to focus on things eternal. In Jesus’ mighty name. Amen.
