Romans 1:20

“For ever since the world was created, people have seen the earth and sky. Through everything God made, they can clearly see his invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature. So they have no excuse for not knowing God.”

The apostle Paul boldly states in his letter to the Romans that no one has an excuse for not knowing God. Or, least wondering Who in the world made the earth and sky and everything in it. God created in us an innate desire to know Him, a “God-consciousness,” if you will. Through the creation of the earth, the universe and all its wonders, God is showing Himself to the world. Think of the most beautiful places on earth, look up at the night sky, consider the complexity of the human body…hello…there must be an intelligent designer, a masterful architect!

If you continue reading chapter one of Romans, you will see that Paul goes on to say that even though deep down people know there is some kind of God-creator, their hearts have been darkened and basically are fools. And even if people believe there is a God or have some kind of innate moral compass, that does not mean much. They are dead to the awareness of the Creator. Think back to the garden of Eden when Adam and Eve were in super close connection to God. Adam literally walked with God “in the cool of the evening” and talked intimately with Him. That is how it is supposed to be! Sin has darkened our hearts towards God, thanks to the jealous Lucifer.

Human beings need to be saved! As Christians, our commission is to preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ. This is how that God-consciousness is awakened in people and they can be brought out of darkness and into the light. Ephesians 5:14 says, “Awake, you who sleep, Arise from the dead, and Christ will give you light.” Mankind is dead in their sins. Jesus gives light and salvation!

Salvation comes by hearing the Gospel and believing on Jesus. The Word says “how can they hear without a preacher?” I am a preacher, you are a preacher. Every disciple of Jesus Christ is given the responsibility to preach the Gospel. You don’t have to go to seminary school or be a Pastor of a church. You don’t need to have been a Christian for 25 years. YOUR testimony of how Jesus saved YOU is the message of the Gospel. What was lost has now been found. Through Jesus, you now have life eternal.

I encourage you to take some time to actually write down your testimony of when and how you got saved. Then practice saying it out loud. You will soon have it down pat and ready to share at a moment’s notice. There is someone who needs to hear your testimony. Your story may be the key that unlocks their “God-consciousness” and ushers them into the light where Jesus can transform them. The Bible says to “be ready to give an answer for the Hope that is in you.” Get ready, friends, the harvest is plenty!
