I Timothy 6:12
“Fight the good fight for the true faith. Hold tightly to the eternal life to which God has called you, which you have declared so well before many witnesses.“
I Corinthians 16:13
“Be on guard. Stand firm in the faith. Be courageous. Be strong.”
What is true faith? How many times have we heard these sayings: “Just have faith. Keep the faith.” What does that mean?
“The Faith” is believing in the life, death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ and what it means for all humanity.
Since Jesus suffered, we can be healed and live. Since Jesus rose from the dead, we have eternal life and abundant life. Since Jesus was tempted in every way, like we are, we can overcome and be victorious in our lives. And so on and so forth…
What I believe about the life, death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus shapes how I live my life… “My faith.” When we say, I have faith to believe for healing, for a miracle, for an answer to prayer, etc. what are we really saying? That we “hope” that everything will turn out okay? Like, fingers-crossed, good vibes, positive thoughts? There must be a foundational understanding and deep belief, something for that hope to be rooted in and grounded on. That hope must grounded in Jesus. He’s our firm foundation.
So the next time you pray, focus your eyes on Jesus and who He is and what He has done for you. That is where your hope should be…in Jesus, nothing else.
And when you tell someone you’re praying for them or send them the 🙏🏻 emoji, pray for them “with the faith,” speaking Jesus into their situation. His name is power, healing and life. That’s why we pray “in Jesus name.”
My hope is built on nothing less, than Jesus’ blood and righteousness!
