Monday Meditation

I John 2:2

“And He Himself is the propitiation for our sins, and not for ours only but also for the whole world.”

Jesus’ blood covers the sins of the whole world. Think about that for a moment. The sins of the WHOLE world. And if His blood covers the sins of the whole world, then all the sins you’ve committed AND all the sins committed against you are covered by the blood. Read that last part again. All sins committed AGAINST you are covered by the blood. And when you are covered by the blood of Jesus, when the Father looks at you, all He sees is Jesus. All He sees is a blood-washed, born again, child of God. He doesn’t see you as an addict or a liar or a thief. He also doesn’t see you as a victim of abuse or neglect or trauma. When sin is covered by the blood, it’s as if it never happened. God sees you as a victor, not a victim! You do not have to keep hanging on to the trauma of your past! You are free to let it go!

Now, I understand the damage that abuse and trauma can have on one’s soul. I lived under this oppression for years. I did the therapy, the counseling, the forgiveness, all the things, but was still being held under a certain degree of oppression. This oppression kept me from being completely free and whole. This revelation of God’s Word about sins committed against me and the power of the anointing is what finally allowed me to be free! All these years, I was actually completely free of all these sins against me, but the enemy tormented my soul (mind, will, emotions) with bad memories, “righteous” indignation towards the people who hurt me and insecurity about who I am in Christ, based upon my past painful experiences.

Yes, Hebrews 4:15 says that Christ sympathizes with our weaknesses, He understands what we’ve been through. BUT, that doesn’t mean He wants us to stay there and see ourselves as victims. A huge reason for Jesus coming to earth and accomplishing everything He did was for our freedom!!!!

Let this revelation sink into your heart today. Ask God what this means for you. What do you need to let go of? Be free, dear friend. Be done with that victim mentality today.
